Robby is an award winning composer and teacher and alumni of the Tony award-winning BMI Musical Theater Workshop. He was also a recipient of the Dramatist Guild Fellowship award.  Along with his writing partner, lyricist Nicole Kempskie, they have created 6 original musicals for young performers that were produced by Brooklyn Children's Theater and in schools throughout New York City.  Their first full length musical, Helen on 86th Streetpremiered at the American Theater of Actors in 2011 and is published by Playscripts Inc., and has been performed across the country and recently had its premier international performance in Shanghai, China!  The screenplay of Helen on 86th Street was just named a finalist at the 2016 Internation Family Film Festival.  His shorts Picture Perfect and Dream Teen, (book and lyrics by Arianna Rose), and Mother of the Year, (book and lyrics by Nicole Kempskie) have been produced at The York Theater-NYC as part as their 4@15 series.  He is also composer of the shorts Wild Roses and Sister Aimee: Live at the Capitol Theatre, (book and lyrics by Andrea Frierson). His newest musical “The Order Of Things” (with lyrics and book by Nicole Kempskie) was a 2013 O'Neill NMTC Semi-finalist. Robby began his professional career in music as a musical director, composer and performer with Walt Disney Entertainment in 1991. He served as musical director for Disney Theatrical’s Cub School. There, he worked as a vocal coach with children, preparing them for young roles in The Lion King and Mary Poppins on Broadway. 

Robby teaches private piano and voice to students of every age and level.  Many of his students have advanced to some of the most prestigious performing arts schools in the country.  Check out the Teacher/Coach page on this website for more information or to book private lessons with Robby.  

As a teaching artist, Robby works with Tada !, Arts Connection, Camp Broadway, Brooklyn Academy of Music and City Center’s Encores! In School programs, teaching Musical Theater performance and songwriting skills to kids throughout New York City. Last year, he worked in over 20 inner city schools and had over 2,000 children participating in his programs in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. 

Robby also won the 2012 MAC Award /Song Of The Year for his song, “He’s On His Way”, with lyrics by Arianna Rose.
